Brighton goalkeeper James Beadle is celebrating a call-up to the England senior team by interim manager Lee Carsley.
The talented 20-year-old – currently on loan with Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship – is training with the senior squad as they prepare for a Uefa Nations League fixtures with the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
Beadle has represented England throughout the youth ranks all the way from under-15s to the under-21s. An England senior appearance in the future could now be a possibility for the former Charlton man, who joined Brighton in 2022. He will train with fellow England goalkeepers Jordan Pickford of Everton, Nick Pope of Newcastle and Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace.
Jason Burt of the Telegraph posted: “James Beadle training with England senior squad today. The 20-year-old Brighton goalkeeper – on loan at Sheffield Wednesday – will play for England one day. I am sure of that.”
Beadle re-joined Wednesday on loan for the season after impressing at Hillsborough last term, keeping eight clean sheets from 19 Championship. Beadle has previously had loans away from Brighton at Crewe and Oxford.
His call-up further highlights the goalkeeping talent currently with Brighton. Dutch international Bart Verbruggen is the current No 1, with the experienced Jason Steele providing reliable back-up for Fabian Hurzeler’s team.
The Seagulls also have the excellent Carl Rushworth out on loan at Hull City, Canada international Tom McGill at MK Dons and Dutch giant Kjell Scherpen at Sturm Graz.
