Bayern Munich is interested in Monaco’s Axel Disasi, according to Telefoot (via GGFN). In addition to Die Roten, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the French defender. After putting in consistent performances for Monaco, the 24-year-old could be on his way out in the summer.
Disasi was named to the French squad for the World Cup 2022 after a strong season at the club level. Didier Deschamps called on him after Prisnel Kimpembe was injured just before the tournament. During the tournament, Disasi made his senior debut for the French team.
Monaco‘s contract with the French defender expires in two years. The Ligue 1 club will be under no obligation to sell him this summer. They may attempt to extend his contract in order to preserve his transfer value. However, if one of the top clubs converts their interest into bids, Disasi may try to leave Monaco.
Bayern’s center-back options currently include Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, De Ligt, and Benjamin Pavard. Daley Blind will be available until the end of the season. The contract of the Dutch defender expires in the summer. Rekordmeister will require a fourth center-back if Blind and Pavard leave Bavaria.
Disasi has been a regular starter at Monaco, so he may look for a new club that will keep him on the field. In such a case, Bayern Munich will be an unappealing option for the French international.
In an ideal world, Nagelsmann and Bayern Munich would like to see Pavard sign a new contract. The French defender is now regularly used in central defense. Furthermore, extending his contract is a better financial outcome for the club than spending big on another defender. If Pavard does not extend his contract, Rekordmeister will have to consider a summer transfer for Disasi.
