LSU wide receiver Malik Nabors could become the Tennessee Titans’ elusive star

LSU receiver Malik Nabors is one of the NFL Draft’s gems, or in his words, “The Guy,” and is so highly regarded that he was drafted with the No. 7 pick by the Tennessee Titans. There is a high possibility that he will resign.

Titans coach Brian Callahan and general manager Ran Carton have made it clear that Tennessee needs more dynamic playmakers. Apparently, Nabers is one of them.

“When that ball is in the air, it’s mine,” Nabers said Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine. “When you have the ball in your hands, you can do incredible things with it. You can create space in different bases and make explosive plays in the backfield. He runs an 8-yard route for a touchdown. I would say I’m a guy. ”

Nabors, Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and Washington University’s Reem Oduzne are among the top players in the wide receiver draft class. Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranks them No. 2 (Harrison), No. 4 (Nabers) and No. 8 (Odunze) among all positions.

In 2023, Nabers is the No. 1 PFF wide receiver in the nation. He caught 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was named a consensus All-American and became LSU’s career leader in catches and receiving yards, ahead of NFL stars Justin Jefferson and Jermar Chase. It helps if your quarterback is Heisman Trophy winner Jaden Daniels. But Daniels had high praise for his star receiver. “He’s a great guy outside of football,” Daniels said. “He’s a hard worker and a very competitive guy, so two competitive guys try to encourage each other every day to make better bets. He is my brother and I love him to death. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be in this situation.

Nabers met with the Titans and said the meeting went well. “I have never failed an interview and I can say that I have impressed all the coaches with my soccer intelligence.

The Titans need DeAndre Hopkins. Tennessee’s other six receivers combined barely eclipsed Hopkins’ 1,057 yards.

“At the end of the day, the goal in the NFL is to score points, and it’s important to have guys who can score points. “All things being equal, we’re going to rely on guys who can score touchdowns,” Callahan said. “This class has a good mix of the right people, and when you build a great front office, you try to have a little bit of all of those things. “It’s a fun class to evaluate, so I hope we find some players that are a good fit for us.”
