GOOD NEWS: As Mac Jones and his wife welcome a new baby…..

Eagles signing QB who had brief stint with Patriots (report)
A former New England Patriots quarterback will get a chance to compete for the backup role in the NFC East. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Will Grier signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Grier will compete with Kenny Pickett — who was traded to Philadelphia by the Pittsburgh Steelers — and Tanner McKee to be Jalen Hurts’ backup.

Originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019, Grier also spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and the Bengals before New England signed him from Cincinnati’s practice squad last season.

Despite the Patriots having issues at quarterback with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, Grier never saw game action. After then-coach Bill Belichick told the trio to be ready to go, Grier told MassLive’s Karen Guregian that he’d love the opportunity to start and show what we can do.

The Patriots released Grier a few days later and then re-signed to the practice squad not long after that.

Grier was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers from New England’s practice squad in December. But like his time in New England, never was called upon to go into the game.

Grier hasn’t started an NFL game since 2019 when he was with the Panthers.
