Newcastle United to sign £27m Spanish defender as Agent currently spotted in England

Ivan Fresneda, a target for Arsenal and Newcastle United, is reportedly close to joining the Magpies.

The Daily Mail said that Eddie Howe and Mikel Arteta are both interested in signing the 18-year-old.

Following the publication of that report, Spanish football analyst Fernando Kallas told Sky Sports that Fresneda was already saying his goodbyes to the Real Valladolid squad as he neared a move to Newcastle.

Now, there has been a fresh development.

As shown below, Fresneda’s agent, Luis Bardaji, has shared an Instagram photo of himself in Kensington, London.

Of course, Arsenal supporters will claim that Fresneda is more likely to join them than Newcastle.

However, those who followed the Alexander Isak saga will recall the Swedish international being spotted in Selfridges, which sent Arsenal fans into a frenzy, only for him to join Newcastle.

Fresneda’s contract with Real Valladolid includes a €30 million (£27 million) release clause.

So far this season, the teenager has sent shockwaves through Spanish football with eight games in La Liga, where he has provided some outstanding right-back displays.

Newcastle’s interest in Fresneda raises several issues, especially given Kieran Trippier’s performance at right-back this season.

Will Howe return the teenager to Real Valladolid or another club? Or will he keep the Spain Under-19 international as a backup for England?

It remains to be seen what occurs, but the most interesting aspect of this transfer is what it could imply for Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo, both of whom are now Trippier’s backups at right back.

Keep an eye on this scenario because we expect more developments soon.
