Newcastle is interested in Wolves star Ruben Neves, according to Craig Hope of The Mail, and club scouts have also suggested Franck Kessie to Eddie Howe.
The Magpies are also interested in both Leicester City midfielders and have been told that they must sign both.
Jose Enrique, a former Newcastle United defender, believes Eddie Howe’s side should sign James Maddison and Youri Tielemans. The Magpies are still being linked with the Leicester City duo, and the Spaniard believes the Toon need to strengthen their squad as a whole.
Howe’s side had two bids for Maddison rejected in the summer and remain interested in the attacking midfielder, while Tielemans’ contract at the King Power expires this summer. The Belgian midfielder has been linked with a move to St. James’ Park, with Arsenal also thought to be interested.
Tielemans is said to be seeking a move to a Champions League club, which, given Newcastle’s strong start to the season, could sway a potential move in their favor if they finish in the top four. Maddison’s contract expires in 2024, and the Magpies are hoping to secure a better deal in the summer.
Meanwhile, Ruben Neves, the Portuguese international, has been a constant for Wolves since their promotion to the Premier League, and his Premier League pedigree is thought to appeal to Howe.
Newcastle has added him to their list of January targets, with his contract set to expire in 18 months and the player ‘unlikely’ to sign an extension. Hope adds that we have yet to make contact with Neves or Wolves about a move.
