Newcastle Utd eager to sign Wolves’ versatile midfielder as contract to expire in 18 months

Newcastle is interested in Wolves’ Ruben Neves.

The 25-year-old Portuguese international has been a constant for Wolves since their promotion to the Premier League, and his Premier League pedigree is thought to appeal to Howe.

Newcastle has added him to their list of January targets, with his contract set to expire in 18 months and the player ‘unlikely’ to sign an extension. Hope adds that we have yet to make contact with Neves or Wolves about a move.

Barcelona’s Franck Kessie has also been recommended by scouts to Newcastle’s transfer committee, though it is believed that the 26-year-old Ivorian is not a priority target at the moment.

West Ham right-back Harrison Ashby is still a target, while Stoke Under-18s striker Nathan Lowe is being closely monitored by the club’s new youth recruitment chief, Paul Midgley.
