Newcastle United tip to make first summer signing as fans message Eddie Howe to push for his signature

Now that Champions League football has been assured for next season, Newcastle United can begin seriously considering their summer transfer intentions, with Kieran Tierney at the top of their list.

For a time, it was thought that Newcastle had prepared various transfer strategies for the summer, all of which hinged on which, if any, European competition the Magpies would face next season.

Newcastle will now stand alongside Europe’s finest in the Champions League next season, following Monday night’s 0-0 draw with Leicester, which also ensures they may pursue their top transfer plan.

Newcastle will pursue Kieran Tierney as part of their top transfer strategy.

A story in inews stated Newcastle had numerous plans, but went on to say that Arsenal’s Kierney was part of the top-tier strategy, and now that we know it’s the one they’re utilizing, a move for Tierney might be near.

Newcastle had been rumored to launch a £30 million bid for Tierney, who has been rated as’magnificent’ by Neil Lennon, but they may now face competition from Premier League champions Manchester City, who are willing to accept Tierney in a swap deal for Joao Cancelo.

The irony is that Tierney’s career at Arsenal was hindered by the arrival of another Manchester City star, Oleksandr Zinchenko. Tierney has seen little first-team action this season due to Zinchenko’s form.

Newcastle must upgrade their left-back position for the coming season.

Newcastle will be looking for an overlapping left-back for next season, as Dan Burn is not comfortable pushing forward and is not a natural full-back.Matt Targett hasn’t had the best season since making his loan move permanent, being outplayed by a centre-back.

Tierney would be great for what Newcastle are looking for, but he has a reputation for being injured all the time.Callum Wilson had a similar reputation before Eddie Howe managed it well this season, and I’m confident he can do the same for Tierney.

Manchester City’s interest is concerning, as it appeared for the longest time that Newcastle would have a clear run at the 25-year-old, but the Scotsman has expressed a desire to move closer to his family, and you don’t get any closer than Newcastle if you want to stay in the Premier League.
