Newcastle United still pushing hard to sign Ivan Fresneda as agent preparing for final negotiation

According to journalist Lee Ryder, the Tyneside club has been in contact with the 18-year-agency old’s as they strive to win the race for the right-contract backs ahead of Premier League trio Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Chelsea, who are also said to be interested.

The Daily Mail recently stated that the Magpies have moved their attention to West Ham United’s Harrison Ashby after previously failing to recruit the Spaniard last week, but a new update from Romano appears to contradict that allegation.

On Sunday morning, Romano rushed to Twitter to clarify the issue.

“Arsenal have planned for a new round of talks for Ivan Fresneda next week after initiating negotiations with both the player and the club – Newcastle remains interested in getting the Spanish right back,” he claimed.

Fresneda is open to a move to the Premier League.”

According to the aforementioned Daily Mail report, the 18-year-buyout old’s clause is set at £8.8 million, which would be a bargain for a player with Fresneda’s potential.

Matt Clark of La Liga Lowdown praised the kid as remarkably complete,’ adding that he reads the game very well. That is demonstrated by the Spaniard’s ability to make interceptions, averaging 1.52 per 90 in the last year, putting him in the 91st percentile among right-backs in Europe’s top five leagues.

Despite his youth, the teenager has already gained first-team experience with Valladolid, making 12 appearances in all competitions this season and ranking as the squad’s second-best performer with a SofaScore rating of 6.99.

While Kieran Trippier has been crucial for Newcastle this season, starting all 20 Premier League games, he is now 32 and requires a long-term replacement. Eddie Howe appears to have found it in Fresneda, who would appear to be a fantastic addition if the Magpies can win the race for him.
