Rodgers has completed the £17 million signing of FC Copenhagen defender Victor Kristiansen and is looking to add a center-half and a right-winger before the transfer window ends.
Leicester’s initial proposal for Stoke defender Harry Souttar was rejected, but talks over a potential transfer are expected to continue early this week.
Negotiations with Fiorentina for a £25 million deal for Nico González have fallen down, so Leicester is now contemplating Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete, who is presently on loan at Lyon.
In February, Leicester will face a resurgent Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and Arsenal, and Rodgers is eager to bring in reinforcements before the deadline.
“The club is working hard behind the scenes to do that, so perhaps we can bring some more players in before the window closes,” he stated. “If we can bring some fresh faces in and get some players back [from injury] everything will be ok.
“We have to maintain the fight, look to keep improving every day, and make every game important. We’re in the second half of the season, and you have to start well, be powerful and aggressive, and have the patience to play football.”
James Maddison came on as a second-half replacement for the first time in 11 weeks and is expected to start Saturday’s FA Cup clash at Walsall.
“I think the fans understand how important he is to how the team plays and what he’s contributed to us, particularly in the last 18 months,” Rodgers said.
“It’s just great to have him back because he’s got so much quality and makes things happen for us.”
