Leicester City could complete eight transfers before the January deadline

Leicester City transfer news as the team looks to finalize several acquisitions before the end of the January transfer window

Leicester City’s first signing of the January transfer season was Victor Kristiansen, and it is believed that many more transactions will be completed before the deadline next Tuesday.

Leicester is poised to make four senior-level signings, with more on the way. One central defender is expected to come in and one to leave. On the right wing, one in and one out. A goalkeeper and central midfielder could potentially be added, with several names mentioned, but such moves appear unlikely to take place this month.

What is certain is that the coming days will be hectic for Leicester. The players listed below are some of those who could be on the move.

For much of this month, City has been associated with Stoke City defender Harry Souttar and has reportedly made two approaches to the Championship team. The 24-year-old performed admirably for Australia in the World Cup group stages and has also been a star in the second division when healthy.

Leicester would most likely allow Caglar Soyuncu or Jannik Vestergaard to leave this month if Souttar could be signed as a replacement. Stranger things have happened, and it’s doubtful that both of them will die in the same month.

Further up the field, it has been rumored that Ayoze Perez is close to joining Real Betis on loan. Signing him would free up some salary cap space, allowing Rodgers to bring in the right-sided winger he so desperately desires.

City reportedly made a proposal for Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez, but the Italian club is claimed to be holding out for 40 million euros, so the deal appears to be dead – though things can change. As an alternative, Leicester has been linked with a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete, while a return for Jeremie Boga is still possible.

A number of young players may be looking for loan moves this month as well. Sammy Braybrooke, Lewis Brunt, and Kasey McAteer are among those who have been with the first team in recent weeks. Khanya Leshabela, who had a disappointing spell at Crewe, could also be on the move.
