Leicester City join £12m hot transfer race for Champions League winger

Leicester City are reportedly interested in a deal for Sporting Clube de Portugal winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, with a loan deal being eyed.

City are keen to add to their wide attacking options before the end of the transfer window in just over a week’s time. City have turned to academy graduates Kasey McAteer and Wanya Marcal-Madivadua in the opening games of the season, with new signing Stephy Mavididi playing on the left.

According to the Daily Mail , City are now eyeing a potential deal for Fatawu Issahaku. The 19-year-old is not part of Sporting’s plans this season, with City eying a loan which would include an option to buy.

The Ghanaian international featured for Sporting in the Champions League last season, starting the 2-0 loss against Marseille and coming on as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. He was also a late substitute for the 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Europa League.

Sporting are said to value the teenager at £12million, which may be the sort of price that is included as an option in any potential deal. He arrived in Portugal from Ghanian side Steadfast FC in 2022, amid interest from Premier League sides.
