€40 million midfield wizard open for club exit as AC Milan tip player as first summer target

Mateo Kovacic, a Chelsea midfielder, scored his first goal of the season, netting the third goal in Chelsea‘s 3-1 victory over Leicester City. The Croatian has been in and out of the team due to injury issues that have hampered his season.

In recent years, Kovacic has been one of CFC’s most dependable midfielders. He has been a key member of Chelsea’s squad under recent managers, but his future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain. CFC spent a lot of money to sign Enzo Fernandez in the winter transfer window, and the club is hoping to add another world-class midfielder in the summer.

N’Golo Kante is on the verge of signing a new contract with Chelsea that will keep him in the capital until 2026. Chelsea’s squad overhaul will continue in the summer, with some current first-team players potentially leaving.

Kovacic may be one of the players who seeks greener pastures. According to Sport Witness, the 28-year-old midfielder has made an offer to Serie A powerhouse AC Milan. Milan traveled to London last week for their UEFA Champions League round of 16 match against Tottenham Hotspur. Milan advanced to the quarterfinals on aggregate after the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Milan executives Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara met Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic in a hotel in London. As he considers leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer, Kovacic has offered himself to the Rossoneri. The Croatian international played for Inter Milan from 2015 to 2018, and he is open to returning to the fashion capital of the world.

The Milan hierarchy has heard Kovacic’s desire, and a move to the Rossoneri is not out of the question. However, technical and financial requirements must be met first, and only then can Milan launch an offensive for Kovacic in the summer.

The 28-year-old will enter the final year of his contract this summer, and if Chelsea does not include him in their future plans, it will be their final opportunity to cash in on the Croat and earn a sizable fee from his sale. He is currently valued at €40 million, but given CFC’s desire to reduce the size of the massive squad, Milan may be able to negotiate a lower fee as the overhaul continues.

Losing Kovacic would be devastating unless a capable replacement is found. If CFC decides to sell him, the former Real Madrid man will undoubtedly attract interest from top European clubs.
