Tottenham Hotspur seriously keeping eagle eyes on Mike Maignan ahead of next season

Tottenham Hotspur is interested in signing Mike Maignan this summer, according to CaughtOffside. The 27-year-old AC Milan goalkeeper has been outstanding for the Italian club, and he is being pursued by a number of clubs across Europe.

Maignan has been a member of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy since 2009. He rose through the ranks at PSG before joining LOSC Lille in the summer of 2015. At Lille, the 27-year-old was a reliable performer.

Milan was impressed by his heroics and signed him ahead of the 2021-22 season. The French shot-stopper has appeared in 52 matches for the Italian club, recording 23 clean sheets.

While injuries have kept him out for the majority of the season, he has still demonstrated his talent in the few opportunities he has had. In 10 Serie A appearances, the French international has three clean sheets.

Milan’s contract with Maignan expires in the summer of 2026. However, given the recent interest in his services, he may leave in the coming summer.

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, is one of the clubs interested in the 27-year-old. The club kept a close eye on him during their Round of 16 match against Milan, which resulted in their elimination.

The French goalkeeper made a stunning save in the final minutes of the game to prevent the tie from going to overtime. His heroics aided Milan’s victory over Spurs on the night.

His valor has not gone unnoticed. Maignan is also a potential transfer target for Tottenham, who are looking to replace Hugo Lloris ahead of next season. The 27-year-old has impressed club officials, who believe he could be their next undisputed number one goalkeeper.

Lloris, a great servant for Tottenham, is nearing the end of his career. And his recent performances have been dreadful. The 36-year-old has also suffered numerous injuries. As a result, Spurs are keen to sign Maignan ahead of next season.

They are prepared to pay a high price to get him out of Milan. However, the Italian giants will do everything possible to keep the 27-year-old at the club and will not allow him to leave unless he is offered a deal that cannot be refused.
