Aston Villa pushing hard to sign €15m South Korean electrifying midfield wizard

According to a recent Birmingham Live article, Aston Villa has made an offer of €13.5 million – increasing to €15 million – for the services of Real Mallorca forward Kang In Lee. The South Korean star is said to have struck the eye with his performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which was recently hosted in Qatar.

Lee is currently having a good season at Mallorca, where he has made a few important contributions on the attacking front. He has appeared in 16 games this season, scoring twice and assisting three times in the Spanish first division.

The 21-year-old has done well in the middle of the park, averaging 1.0 tackles, 1.4 shots, 1.4 dribbles, and 1.7 critical passes per game in La Liga. In the top league of Spanish football, he has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.2%. (stats via whoscored).

Kang In Lee is under contract at the Spanish club until the summer of 2025. Hence, the Lions have done well to make an offer in the region of €15 million for the South Korean attacking midfielder.

Lee is a good ball defender who can time his challenges well to get the ball back for his team when defending inside his half. The offensive midfielder can shoot the ball from long range with force and accuracy, and he has the vision to divide the opposition’s defense with some important passes in the final third. He primarily plays in the advanced offensive midfield position, but he is versatile enough to play as a wide player on both flanks and even as a central striker when needed.

We should expect him to improve Unai Emery’s offense and help the Villans fight for big titles in the coming years. Lee might be a good substitute for Phillipe Coutinho, who has been out of form for the bulk of the season and has not been prolific in the final third. As a result, Emery made a wise offer and should do everything in his power to close the transaction before the end of the month.
