BREAKING NEWS: Huddersfield Town legend extends deal at Terriers in bid to lead club to Championship

HUDDERSFIELD Town captain and club legend Jonathan Hogg has penned a new one-year deal with his beloved Terriers.

Out of contract with the club at the end of this month, the Teessider had been in talks to extend his epic stint at the club, with new head coach Michael Duff having been keen to retain the talismanic skipper, who missed the end of last term following shoulder surgery.

Despite that untimely late-season injury issue, Hogg still featured 35 times last term.

Hogg joined Town in the summer of 2013 from Watford and has been a stalwart during some of the most momentous times in the club’s history. He has made 373 appearances in all competitions.

The midfield enforcer, who turns 36 in December, is now contracted at Town for a 12th season.

Hogg said: “I had no doubt at all in my mind about extending my contract here. I’ve said it before, but this is my club and I couldn’t picture myself playing anywhere else now.

“Having been here over a decade, I know Town in good times and bad, and while the past couple of seasons haven’t gone to plan, I’m determined to play my part in helping to put that right in whatever way I can.

“Speaking to both Mark (Cartwright – CEO) and Michael about their plans for the future, that’s something I want to be part of. Whenever I’m called on, I will continue to give everything I have for Huddersfield Town, just as I have since the day I arrived almost 11 years ago.”
