At the start of their offseason program, the Browns have announced a pair of roster moves.
Cleveland has signed exclusive rights free agent Sam Kamara and waived guard Drew Forbes with a failed physical designation.
Kamara, 26, appeared in two regular-season games for the Browns last season. He recorded seven total tackles with one for loss.
In all, Kamara has played in 11 games since entering the league in 2021 — eight with Chicago and three with Cleveland.
Forbes, 27, has appeared in 13 games with no starts. He was placed on injured reserve in August of last year and missed the entire season.
The Cleveland Browns have announced the signing of defensive lineman Sam Kamara. The 26-year old veteran spent last season on the team’s practice squad for much of the season, but appeared in two games when team suffered multiple injuries.
Kamara is a 6′ tall base end that weighs between 270 and 280 pounds. He can also kick inside to rush on run downs, taking advantage of his pad level to shoot gaps and cause problems. Kamara was an exclusive rights free agent, now rejoining an edge group that includes Myles Garrett, Za’Darius Smith, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Alex Wright, Isaiah McGuire, Isaiah Thomas and Lonnie Phelps.
Kamara will compete for a roster spot, but unless the Browns suffer a series of injuries, his best case scenario is to once again find a spot on the practice squad. However, it’s worth noting that since the Browns will likely have a fair amount of days off from practice for Garrett and Smith during the summer, Kamara will have his chances to get reps.
