Huddersfield Town have had a £750,000 bid accepted for Charlton Athletic striker Alfie May, sources have told Football Insider.
The Terriers have made a breakthrough in negotiations after new talks on Friday (28 June) and are now closing in on a deal for the 30-year-old.
May will now discuss personal terms with Huddersfield, who are bidding to return to the Championship in the 2024-25 campaign.
The prolific forward joined Charlton from Cheltenham last summer (2023) and signed a contract running until June 2025.
May hit 27 goals across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, including 23 strikes in League One – the most of any third-tier player.

He has made 204 total appearances in the third tier in spells with Doncaster, Cheltenham and Charlton, scoring 73 goals.
May primarily lined up as a centre-forward for the Addicks last term but can also star on both flanks.
Nathan Jones’ side finished 16th in League One in the 2023-24 campaign, with the 30-year-old forward participating in 38% of their league goals.
Huddersfield were relegated to the third tier last season after finishing 23rd, five points adrift of safety.
Their League One campaign starts away at Peterborough on 10 August.
