The Panthers have agreed to terms on a deal with Scott, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Last season Scott played in all 17 games with 10 starts for the Bengals. Scott is effectively trading places with Vonn Bell, who started 13 games at safety for the Panthers last year but was cut this offseason and signed with the Bengals.

Scott was a 2019 seventh-round pick of the Rams who spent four seasons in Los Angeles before signing with the Bengals last year.

The Panthers made the move nine days after releasing Vonn Bell, who signed a one-year deal with the Bengals.

Scott spent four seasons with the Rams (2019-22), before signing a three-year contract with the Bengals last March. He appeared in all 17 games for Cincinnati, making 10 starts. Scott finished with 57 tackles (one for loss) and one quarterback hit. He was replaced by rookie Jordan Battle in the starting lineup. The Bengals cut Scott last week and signed Bell the following day.

Bell spent three seasons in Cincinnati (2020-22), helping the Bengals make back-to-back AFC Championship Games. The veteran became a team captain and tallied 288 tackles, five interceptions and 21 passes defensed over that span.

Bell signed a three-year contract with the Panthers last offseason. They’re still paying him for this year, which allowed him to sign a league minimum deal with the Bengals. Bell is part of a crowded safety room that includes recently signed Geno Stone, Dax Hill, Tycen Anderson and Battle.
