Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines five-star Solomon Thomas, an FSU commit, officially visited the Florida Gators over the weekend and was once again taken aback by the people around the University of Florida. The No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class is nearing a final decision, which he hopes to have following his last official visit to the Seminoles from June 21-23. LSU and Florida are battling to flip Thomas from the Seminoles, but it is no easy fight, especially with the ‘Noles having the final official visit.
After spending the weekend in Gainesville, Thomas caught up with Swamp247 following his official visit.
“I’m just seeing life after football,” Thomas said. “The plans, expectations, and the people—there is nothing like it. Playing with people that you’ve known for a great amount of time, the culture is us. I can go anywhere and say this coach is great, but I’ve come to realize the culture is something I’ve always known and believed in. Everything is good in Gainesville.”
“There is more of a press to get me on board because after the summer, you want to know who you’ve got coming in, especially the early enrollees,” Thomas said. “I’ll be enrolling to school in about six months, so just getting the gameplan. When they say they run pro-style, it is pro-style. When you transition into the NFL, God-willing, there are no surprises.”
Yet, it is the people around the Florida program, from the players to the staff, that make the University of Florida a viable finalist for the five-star prospect.
“It is the people,” Thomas said. “It is not just one person, that’s my biggest takeaway. It’s a collective, it’s everybody. I like academics, and that’s not something you hear from student-athletes is the academics, but that is something that has kept the University of Florida in the running.”
