Four-star lineman and former Hog commit Carius Curne sets Arkansas visit

Arkansas hopes to stay in the mix for the top player in the Natural State.

Marion (Ark.) four-star lineman Carius Curne de-committed from Arkansas March 25, but the Razorbacks are still alive and will get an official visit in the near future.

Curne, 6-4, 301, announced his official visit date of June 7-9 via an Instagram story Wednesday evening. Curne received three Crystal Ball predictions to LSU following his de-commitment from the Razorbacks earlier this spring.

Curne’s offer list also includes Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee and several others. The talented two-way prospect chose Arkansas on February 7, but backed off his pledge in late March following an unofficial visit with Brian Kelly and LSU.

According to 247Sports, Curne is the nation’s 182nd overall prospect, first in his home state, and the number 21 offensive tackle prospect in the country. The industry-generated Composite rankings have Curne listed even higher, as the 104th overall recruit, tenth among offensive tackles, and first overall in the Natural State.

247Sports National Analyst Hudson Standish gave Curne an in-depth evaluation in November:

“Stout two-way lineman with recruiting interest on both sides of the ball who burst onto the scene during the college summer camp season between his sophomore and junior years. Displays impressive movement ability at offensive tackle. Owns valuable two-way snaps on both lines of scrimmage. Possesses virtually ready-to-play size in the 6-foot-4, 300-pound range as a high school junior, along with adequate length to remain outside or move to a guard role. Physical tools also translate to defense, including varying schemes. Owns multi-sport context thanks to track and field (throws). Through his junior campaign, we believe his best spot in the long term is somewhere on the offensive line, while acknowledging the potential to play either way. Projects as a high-major LOS presence who could develop into an NFL Draft candidate.”

Arkansas currently has the nation’s 57th-ranked recruiting class for the 2025 cycle with five verbal commitments in Maumelle (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian quarterback Grayson Wilson, Atlanta (Texas) running back Markeylin Batton, Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff linebacker Jayden Shelton, Mobile (Ala.) Williamson safety Taijh Overton, and Bay St. Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus kicker Evan Noel.

The Razorbacks lost two commitments the day Curne announced his decision, as four-star running back Jamarion Parker of St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter also backed off his pledge on March 25.

Curne’s visit weekend is shaping up to be another big one for the Hogs, as Composite four-star safety Omarion Robinson of Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview, four-star running back Kiandrea Barker of Beebe (Ark.), and unranked offensive tackle Mark Handy Albuquerque (N.M.) La Cueva also plan to be in town for official visits.

The Razorbacks offered Barker earlier this week.
