List of 3 Josh Windass alternatives West Brom should consider amid fresh transfer link

West Brom were among the sides linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass over the weekend.

West Brom, Hull City, Stoke City and Derby County were all linked with Sheffield Wednesday man Windass over the weekend as his deal at Hillsborough winds down.

The versatile attacker’s contract situation means he could be available for nothing this summer but the Owls are keen to keep him onboard.

The wide interest in his services and possibility of him remaining with Wednesday means it would be wise for the Baggies to keep some other options in mind as they weigh up new signings ahead of the summer.

With that said, here are three Windass alternatives West Brom should consider…

Callum O’Hare – Coventry City

This is one that would only be possible with promotion, and even then it would be an ambitious move.

O’Hare is approaching the end of his contract at Coventry City and has drawn interest from the likes of West Ham. However, as another versatile attacking midfielder, he’s a similar profile to Windass who could become a big hit at The Hawthorns.

West Brom wouldn’t be alone in targeting him but O’Hare could be a great addition if they rise to the Premier League via the play-offs.

A younger, more raw option such as Micah Hamilton could be worth eyeing too.

The 20-year-old has been fantastic at youth level for Manchester City and has looked exciting in his senior opportunities too. However, his contract expires this summer, so perhaps the versatile attacker moves on to find more regular first-team chances elsewhere.

Hamilton can operate on either wing or through the middle as an attacking or central midfielder.

Chris Willock – QPR

Last but not least is QPR star Willock, who would be a feasible signing regardless of how the play-off campaign ends for West Brom.

As another player who can operate comfortably in the middle or as a winger, Willock would be an exciting addition to the attacking ranks. He already boasts Championship pedigree and could be in line for a new challenge as his deal at Loftus Road approaches its end.

Again though, expect plenty of interest in Willock.
