Northampton Town have moved ahead of Stevenage in the race for Crystal Palace midfielder Malachi Boateng, according to reporter Alan Nixon on Patreon.
Northampton Town are keen to sign the youngster on loan ahead of next season as they prepare for another year in League One. The Cobblers are in the hunt for a replacement in the middle of the park for Marc Leonard, who has returned to Brighton and Hove after two impressive loan spells.
Boateng, 21, spent the last campaign with Dundee in the Scottish Premiership and was a key player for the Dark Blues in the heart of midfield. He went on to make 36 appearances in all competitions, 32 of which came in the league, and has now returned to Selhurst Park.
In this latest update regarding his future with the Eagles by journalist Nixon on his Patreon page, Jon Brady’s side are hoping to beat Stevenage to his signing.

Boateng has been on the books at Crystal Palace since the age of 11 and has risen up through their academy ranks.
He has been a regular for the Premier League outfit at various different youth levels and was handed his first professional deal in 2019.
His brother, Hiram, plays for Mansfield Town and has been at Exeter City and MK Dons in the past.
Boateng has made three first-team outings for Crystal Palace so far in his career but remains down the pecking order with the South London outfit.
He was given the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis for the first time when Queen’s Park came calling for him in 2022.
The London-born man went on to play 41 matches for the Spiders altogether, 34 of which came in the Scottish Championship, before he made the step up to the top flight with Dundee last term.
What next?
Boateng has proven his worth in the top two tiers in Scotland and his two loan stints will have done him good.
Crystal Palace may feel it is now time for him to test himself in England and a switch to Northampton Town would suit all parties involved.
He would get regular game time with the Cobblers as he would slot into the void left by Leonard’s exit.
Stevenage would have to look elsewhere as they plan for next season under Alex Revell.
