Nottingham Forest finally reveal £50m asking price as Barcelona and Real Madrid rush for final negotiation

Barcelona and Real Madrid are now competing with each other to sign a Nottingham Forest player this summer.

The Reds will be active in the transfer market again this summer – and a star player or two could leave.

Forest have to be mindful of financial fair play once again and even if survival is secured, departures look extremely likely.

Morgan Gibbs-White is one name who has been linked with an exit, with West Ham and Tottenham both monitoring him.

It would be heartbreaking to see any top player leave, especially if the club can survive relegation back to the Championship.

However, this is what a club like Forest are up against in the modern era and any performing player will attract interest.

One player who will almost certainly have interest is Murillo, with four Premier League clubs already looking at the defender.

Barcelona and Real Madrid want Forest star Murillo

Well, this is starting to get ridiculous now and it’s mad to think how far Forest have come when Barcelona and Real Madrid want their players.

According to Football Espana, the two absolute giants of the game are now vying with each other to sign Murillo from Forest.

The defender is going to be a top star at some point and big clubs are preparing to make bids in the summer.

Forest will face a real fight to keep hold of Murillo with the club likely to need to raise funds to pass next year’s financial fair play cycle.

Murillo has been ever-present in the Premier League since he made his debut in October against Brentford.

Now, the two La Liga juggernauts are going toe-to-toe for the Brazilian player who cost Forest just £11 million in the summer.

It’s been claimed previously that it could take around £50 million to tempt Forest into selling Murillo.

Forest should include clause in any potential sale

If Forest remain in the Premier League, replacing Murillo will prove nigh on impossible and the Reds should be cute.

Although Murillo has been sound this season, he’s by no means the finished article and there is no saying he will get regular game time at a bigger club.

With that in mind, the Reds should ask for a season-long loan for Murillo should they find a club willing to pay the money this summer.

It would be great to think that Murillo can stay at Forest and further enhance his valuation.

However, that feels extremely unlikely with clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona now watching the Forest defender.
