Boston Celtics set fully to land Blake Griffin despite reports

Even with Jaylen Brown’s extension secured, the Boston Celtics still have a few moves to make before the new season begins. There will be few big changes to the rotation, including Payton Pritchard’s future. With a roster space open, Brad Stevens must make a decision. Outside of that one place, Luke Kornet and Justin Champagnie have no guaranteed money in 2023/2024, while freshly signed Dalano Banton has a partially guaranteed contract. This could result in even more roster changes before the season begins.

The former All-Star and 2022-2023 Celtic is one of the candidates for one of those berths.Blake Griffin is said to be on the list. Last season, No. 91 in green and white did an outstanding job for the team. Griffin was very selfless for a guy who used to be one of the league’s faces, whether it was giving advise to those around him or always being ready when he was needed off the bench.

According to Mass Live’s Brian Robb, there has been a lull in Griffin news, leading many to feel that his future lies elsewhere. “Quiet” does not need to indicate his departure. With three high-quality big men and Luke Kornet as a bench option, it makes no sense to complete out the roster with a guy who may not be willing to give up playing time. Griffin’s experience on the bench, as well as his character on and off the court, making him an ideal player to round out the squad.

It didn’t take long for No. 91 to become a fan favorite among Boston Celtics supporters. There is no doubt that he will not see much action this season due to the depth in the frontcourt and his lack of defensive versatility, but his upbeat demeanor is difficult to replace. Due to the departures of Marcus Smart and Grant Williams, another outspoken experienced leader in the locker room may be required. There is no transition time. Griffin spent last season in this city. There is no doubt that his mindset fits perfectly with green and with the nucleus of this team.

Griffin is a likeable guy who shot over 40% from outside the arc last season before the All-Star break. Sure, there are better possibilities, particularly in terms of on-the-field effect, but is that really the purpose when filling up the roster?

At this moment, the rotation is nearly complete. Questions surrounds Pritchard and the wings on the bench, but it appears that Jordan Walsh and newly acquired Oshae Brissett are competing. Aside from that, the contributors who will step between the white lines in green and white are obvious.

Griffin makes sense for a team looking to return to the NBA Finals because of his mentorship and positivism.
