According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the Boston Celtics do not want to trade Jaylen Brown this offseason, and all signs point to the Celtics and Brown agreeing to a five-year, $295 million supermax agreement.
After being named second-team all-NBA in the 2022-2023 season, Jaylen Brown is eligible for a supermax extension. For a time, becoming eligible for a supermax contract quieted chatter of his potentially departing the Celtics. Brown had to take over when Jayson Tatum was injured early in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. The Celtics were blown out at home with a chance to become the first club to win an NBA Playoffs series after falling behind 3-0.
Brown battled greatly in his attempt to compensate for Jayson Tatum’s injury limitations. Following the game and in the following week, many Celtics fans were vocal about perhaps parting ways with Brown, feeling the team could not win an NBA title as it now stands.
