Ex-Milwaukee Bucks Star Jrue Holiday Admits Boston Celtics Trade ‘Hurt’ His Family

Days after officially parting ways with the Milwaukee Bucks, Jrue Holiday has now found himself joining one of his former team’s biggest rivals in the Boston Celtics. The 33-year-old is processing a whole lot of emotions right now, and it comes as no surprise that the same is the case for the rest of his family.

Ex-Milwaukee Bucks Guard Jrue Holiday Speaks Out on Celtics Trade

Holiday is married to professional soccer player Lauren Holiday who he shares two kids with — Jrue Tyler and Hendrix. While it is his immediate family who will have to go through the trouble of being uprooted from a place they’ve called home for the past three years in order to move to a new city, Jrue is also worried about his other family back in LA.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Califronia, Holiday was a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers as a kid. He still has family in the City of Angels, who Jrue admits may have been affected by his move to the Celtics:

“Growing up in L.A., I know a lot of my family is probably hurt,” Holiday said, via Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

Boston may be one of Milwaukee’s toughest rivals in the East, but there’s no denying that the age-old rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics run much, much deeper. Holiday’s family in LA can definitely attest to this fact.

Stunning Turn of Events

You can probably imagine the rollercoaster of emotions Holiday had to go through from having to leave Milwaukee, to joining the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Damian Lillard blockbuster trade, to finally ending up in Boston just days after his initial trade.

The two-time All-Star admits that it has been quite a ride these past few days, but at the same time, he’s now focused on doing whatever he can to help his new team achieve its objectives:

“It’s definitely been a whirlwind, but it’s part of the business,” he said. “I’m here to really step up (my teammates) game and become a champion.”

Incidentally, the Celtics will likely have to go through the Bucks if Holiday and Co. want to come out of the East. That should be fun.
