Fans in tears as Celtics Jayson Tatum set for Reunion With Marcus Smart In Goodbye Post

After completing a blockbuster trade for Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics ended their nine-year run with Marcus Smart. Despite the three-team exchange, Boston standout Jayson Tatum does not see the door closing permanently.

Tatum, in fact, made a strong statement less than 24 hours after Smart left the Celtics.

Tatum sent a touching Instagram statement bidding goodbye to Smart, who played with him for six seasons with the Celtics, congratulating the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year and predicting that the two would win an NBA title together in the future.

“My dog” “I will be eternally grateful for you and how you pushed and helped me along this journey,” Tatum posted on Instagram Thursday night. “Never change, stay true to yourself; one of a kind can never be replaced!” Forever, my bro. We’re gonna hook up again one day and get ourselves one, no doubt about it! Until next time, Brodie!”

Smart, who was present at the outset of Boston’s rebuild after the big three period of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen, was there every step of the way when Tatum first entered the NBA in 2018.

The 29-year-old blossomed into becoming a fan favorite for his unrivaled hustle and gritty play style after being battle-tested through five Eastern Conference finals visits and an NBA Finals appearance.
