International Championship: Zhang Anda makes 147 break in maiden ranking title win

Zhang Anda of China won the International Championship in Tianjin with a spectacular 147 break.

Zhang scored the maximum in the third frame of his 10-6 victory over England’s Tom Ford to clinch his maiden ranking title.

The local favorite took an early lead with breaks of 86 and 101, but Ford rallied to tie the match at 5-5.

Zhang won five of the next six games after defeating world number one Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semi-finals.

He blasted another century as he won four frames in a row to lead 9-5, and after Ford took the next, Zhang completed the win with a 70 break in the 16th.

Zhang, 31, had not playtold World Snooker. “I had considered retiring and giving up during the [Covid-19] pandemic.”

“However, I couldn’t takeed in a ranking semi-final until this month’s English Open, where he finished as runner up.

“I’m feeling extremely excited,” Zhang  it any longer and chose to return to the arena.” I had been doing fairly well in the past two or three years.

“The English Open had a huge impact on my improvement. When I’m at a disadvantage, I tell myself not to relax. The English Open final taught me an important lesson and provided me with an unforgettable experience.

“This time, I maintained my focus because the opponent could have come back at any moment.”
