Jeremy Reaves Injury Update: Commanders All-Pro Special Teamer Out For Rest Of The Season With Season Ending Surgery

The Washington Commanders suffered a tough loss against the New York Giants, but their troubles didn’t end there.

All-Pro special teamer Jeremy Reaves revealed that he will be undergoing season-ending surgery for a knee injury.

“Reflection is everything…One thing I’ve learned throughout my journey is that the mountain has two sides to it. Reaching the top of one just means there’s another climb to a higher peak,” Reaves said in a social media posting. “Tomorrow morning I’ll be having surgery and this year will sadly be cut short for me, but through this I am grateful! The Lord has blessed me with an unbelievable support system, teammates, and a drive to keep going even after failure! One thing about me, I’ve had to climb more than I’ve had moments at the top of the mountain. So this ain’t nothing new!”

While his teammates fought on the field, Reaves watched from home, nursing an injury that landed him on injured reserve.

In a statement on Sunday night, Reaves expressed his gratitude towards the fans who have supported him throughout his injury and his journey as one of the favorite players on the team.

Reaves entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, and his hard work and dedication have earned him every opportunity he’s had on the football field.

Last season, he reached new heights by becoming a special teams Pro Bowl selection and receiving First-Team All-Pro honors.

This season, he achieved another milestone by being voted as a team captain by his fellow players. However, his injury has dashed his hopes for the remainder of the year.

Now, Reaves will focus on a lengthy rehabilitation process in the hopes of making a comeback in 2024.

Unfortunately, Reaves’s future with the Commanders is uncertain. He signed a one-year deal for this season, and his return to the team will depend on various factors, including how the rest of this season unfolds.

With a disappointing 3-4 start and the formidable 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles up next, a string of NFC East Divisional losses and a 3-5 record at the halfway mark could have implications beyond just Reaves’s season.
