Massive reactions from NBA world as Paul George reveals trade update

The Clippers were close to trading Paul George to the New York Knicks, but the Knicks refused for a very specific reason.

According to a source close to the New York Knicks, the organization was on the verge of getting multi-time NBA All-Star Paul George.

Alan Hahn discussed recent discussions between the Knicks and George’s LA Clippers regarding a potential trade of the 2019 All-NBA First Team selection.

“Alan Hahn on Knicks: ‘They had a chance to get Paul George,” the New York Basketball account, which focuses on the Knicks, tweeted. They claimed it was too expensive and that they did not want to undertake it. They’ve already backed down from it. They went to the Clippers, who gave them a price, and Paul George replied, ‘But I want an extension.’ ‘We’re not doing that,’ they said. They then walked away. So, Paul George…It’s off the table for the time being.”

So George is unlikely to relocate from Los Angeles to New York City anytime soon. From both parties’ views, it appears that the blown-up transaction was the correct one. George stated a desire to have his contract extended. More power to the Knicks if they aren’t willing to pull the trigger on that. With that, the trading price would almost certainly rise even further.

Nonetheless, the change sparked quite a stir on Twitter. Knicks supporters and others flocked to the quote, expressing their displeasure with the impending Paul George deal. The majority of them were calm.
