Premier League club ready to break the bank to sign £25 Aston Villa goal Machine

Wolves are reportedly willing to make a move for Aston Villa striker Danny Ings if the club is willing to let him go.

According to the Mirror, the Wanderers are ready to compete with Everton for the 30-year-old.

Wolves, of course, are interested in Matheus Cunha.

However, the Brazilian is not a true striker, and it appears that Julen Lopetegui is still looking for a more natural center-forward.

Villa reportedly turned down Everton’s loan request.

Unai Emery is supposedly only open to selling the player.

Ings has been a peripheral figure so far since the Spaniard took over at Villa Park.

It is not clear how much Villa would ask to sell. But Ings has 18 months left on his contract, so he likely wouldn’t break the bank.

But Villa likely isn’t about to make it easy for Wolves, knowing they need a goalscorer and given the rivalry.

And Ings can score goals. He has 14 goals in 52 appearances for Villa, which isn’t really impressive. However, at Southampton, he was fairly clinical, scoring 46 out of 100.

Ings would be a terrific addition to Wolves, but given his current situation with Villa, it seems doubtful.

He’s a proven Premier League striker who will be eager to show himself after falling down the pecking order at Villa.

His tenure at Villa Park since joining for £25 million from Southampton has been somewhat lackluster. Despite this, former Liverpool manager Steven Gerrard was a big supporter.

“I suppose he is his own worst critic,” he said in May 2022 (Express & Star). I wouldn’t put too much stock in that. He hasn’t been underwhelming in my opinion.

“That’s not how I see it. But I think that pretty much sums up Danny. He’s very humble, real, and self-critical, which is probably why he’s played at a high level his entire career and why, when he’s on, you see a top-quality player.”
