Axe to fall amid tactical and injury considerations – Coventry City predicted team v Leeds United

Mark Robins will be hoping for a response from his Coventry City players when they face a tough test as Leeds United on Saturday.

Unlike the Sky Blues, the Whites have got their 2024/25 campaign off to a decent start with 11 points from their opening six games to leave them sitting comfortably in sixth place. City took four points off them last season, earning a point at Eland Road and winning the return fixture at the CBS Arena.

And after a flat display against Swansea at the weekend – when Leeds were busy beating bottom club Cardiff in South Wales – Coventry will be looking to get their performance levels back up to those shown against Watford and Tottenham in their previous two games. So what team will Robins go for?

It’s a toss up between Bidwell and Dasilva at left-back, assuming he doesn’t play both like last year, while Haji Wright and Ephron Mason-Clark continue to compete on the left-hand berth. Wright, however, was given the hook at half-time against Swansea and could well find himself on the bench.

That leaves the one certainty in the side, Jack Rudoni, to continue in the attacking midfield role behind the lone striker where Ellis Simms is likely to return to the starting line-up in place of Norman Bassette.

Predicted City team v Leeds: Oliver Dovin; Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Luis Binks, Jake Bidwell; Joel Latibeaudiere, Josh Eccles; Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Jack Rudoni, Ephron Mason-Clark; Ellis Simms.
