Coventry City are said to be eyeing up a potential return for former Sky Blues defender Cyrus Christie.
A free agent after leaving Hull City this summer, the right-back is still on the lookout for a new club. And he has been linked with a return to the place where it all began.
Christie started out with the Sky Blues and made more than 100 league appearances for the club before moving on in 2014. He went on to play for Derby County, Middlesbrough, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, then spent the last two years with the Tigers.
His contract at the MKM Stadium expired at the end of last season. It seems he is not short of potential options for his next move, with a suggestion he could end up back at his old stomping ground.
According to HITC, Mark Robins’ side are “in the mix” to snap up Christie. However, there is no shortage of competition for his signature.
Scottish giants Rangers are said to have him on their radar, while Millwall, Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End are also “keen” on the 31-year-old. He also has options abroad, with clubs in Greece and Turkey said to be interested
City boss Robins has said he is “pleased” with the club’s summer transfer business. However, he admitted concern over the loss of a number of senior players.
Asked how he assesses the transfer window from a personal point of view, the manager said: “We got seven in and so I’m pleased. I’m pleased every time we get somebody in that’s going to make us better. There have been significant changes because we have lost the senior players, which was always a concern, and then your senior players have to be the characters who step up and organise it, and I have just seen one or two characters emerging from that dressing room, so that was interesting.”
