Mark Robins admitted that his Coventry City players were “just not good enough” as they let Sheffield Wednesday “off the hook” at the CBS Arena.

The Sky Blues took the lead against the Owls from Jack Rudoni’s first goal for the club but lapses in stoppage time at the end of the first half and end of the match gifted the opposition possession, allowing them to break and punish them on both occasions.

The performance was a far cry from Tuesday night’s 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers, highlighting a lack of consistency at the moment.

“It was a really good win on Tuesday and a really poor defeat today,” he said. “There has got to be a desire and an understanding of how to manage a game and we don’t seem to have it. We certainly don’t seem to have it.

“We were just playing at our own pace, there was not enough tempo, not enough zip in the pass, really disappointing, all the emotions you can think of. There has to be a desire to do things, a desire to do things properly… This matters, we are just throwing away points and performances and it’s just not good enough.”
