Coventry City are reportedly closing in on their latest summer signing, after finally managing to make a breakthrough in their respective pursuit.
The Sky Blues have already secured the likes of Jack Rudoni, Luis Binks and Raphael Borges Rodrigues this summer as they continue towards their push of reaching the Premier League for the first time since May 2001.
Mark Robins’ side have experienced a Championship play-off final as well as an FA Cup semi-final over the last two seasons, but will likely be eyeing up a top-flight return this season.
A new goalkeeper is on the way
According to journalist Daniel Kristoffersson, Coventry City’s move for Swedish goalkeeper Oliver Dovin is reportedly a “done deal”, with the shot-stopper set to fly to England early next week to officially complete the transfer.
The 22-year-old has been on the Sky Blues radar for a number of weeks and after crunch talks, Coventry appears to have made their transfer breakthrough.
How has Dovin fared this season?
With the 2024 Allsvendkan season well underway, Dovin has made 12 appearances for Hammarby so far this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
The shot-stopper has gained back-to-back clean sheets in his previous two outings in Sweden, with his current side winning both matches 3-0.

Statistically, has Dovin performed better than Coventry’s current goalkeepers?
Coventry City currently have both Brad Collins and Ben Wilson at their disposal, with Dovin set to join the Championship side this summer.
During the 2022/23 season, Ben Wilson broke a long-standing club record in terms of clean sheets as well as winning the Championship Golden Glove, but was reduced to just 22 appearances last season keeping four clean sheets.
Collins joined the Sky Blues last summer from League One side Barnsley and became the club’s number one. He kept eight clean sheets in 31 appearances last season in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Dovin kept ten clean sheets in 29 appearances last season as well as three in 12 so far this season.
With the Sky Blues spending a reported ‘20 million kroner’ (according to journalist Anel Avdic), which is the equivalent of roughly £1.4 million – it would appear to be confusing if Dovin wasn’t arriving as the preferred option next season.
This is especially when you consider that despite reaching the FA Cup semi-final last season, Coventry conceded 13 more goals and picked up just one point in their final six league matches.
