DONE DEAL: Huddersfield Town finally agree fee for 14-goal/assist star amid rival EFL interest

Huddersfield Town have agreed a fee to sign Lincoln City wing-back Lasse Sorensen, as per a report from Football Insider.

Huddersfield Town are heading down to League One after a 2023/24 season to forget.

The Terriers were relegated from the Championship under Andre Breitenreiter, who has since departed and been replaced by former Swansea City and Barnsley manager Michael Duff.

The goal will be to return to the second-tier immediately but with some key players likely to move on, new signings will be needed if they’re to maintain a squad capable of winning promotion.

Now, it is claimed Huddersfield Town are poised to secure an eye-catching signing.

Football Insider states the Terries have agreed a fee to sign wing-back Lasse Sorensen from League One rivals Lincoln City. The Dane has had interest from several EFL rivals but it looks as though he’ll be heading to the John Smith’s Stadium.

An impressive signing

Sorensen has become a star player for Lincoln City over recent seasons. He moved from central midfield to a wing-back role to great success, notching six goals and eight assists in 51 games last season.

The 24-year-old is arguably deserving of a chance in the Championship, so this is a great deal for Huddersfield Town to get over the line if they can wrap up the signing.

It’s a blow for the Imps to lose such an important player. However, they had to trigger a 12-month option to keep him this summer, so with a year remaining on his contract, it’s a smart move to cash in now and remove the risk of losing Sorensen for nothing.

What will still for Lincoln though is seeing him move to a League One rival given their own ambitions of making it to the Championship.

Looking to next season

Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City will both be hoping to fight it out for promotion to the second-tier.

While the Terriers were relegated, the Imps fell just short of the play-offs. They had made a fantastic charge for the top six over the second half of the campaign but were pipped by Oxford United, who would go on to win promotion to the Championship.

The summer transfer window will be important for both sides but with Huddersfield swooping for Sorensen, they bolster their own ranks with a strong signing while weakening a rival.

With a fee agreed, it now remains to be seen if Town can get the swoop sealed. A medical and discussions over personal terms will follow.
