Coventry City boss Mark Robins has revealed key man Ben Sheaf has returned to training after injury. But summer signing Raphael Borges Rodrigues has suffered an injury setback in a blow to the Sky Blues.
Midfielder Sheaf has been sidelined since suffering an ankle ligament injury during pre-season and has been badly missed in the opening matches of the new season. Raphael also missed most of pre-season with a thigh strain and is yet to make his competitive debut for the club, having arrived from Australian side Macarthur FC in July.
Robins issued the double update from the treatment room at his pre-match press conference on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s Championship match against Bristol City at Ashton Gate (12:30pm).
Addressing Sheaf’s return to the training ground, he said: “I’ve always said you need everyone fit and firing, especially someone like Ben who is a top performer.
“You miss players when they’re injured and Ben is one of those players and stats suggest he is one of the best in the Championship so clearly, he will have an impact when he returns, he won’t be far away.”
On Raphael’s situation, Robins added: “He’s had a setback. His thigh hasn’t settled down, so he is going to be a while. But we have to use this time to make sure he is physically in a good position.
“I feel for him because he’s come from the other side of the world, on your own and you’ve made that move, different club, new environment and different intensity.
