Coventry City are heading to Ashton Gate to face Liam Manning’s Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Coventry City make the journey to the south west to face a Bristol City side looking to continue their strong start to the season. After an opening day draw against Hull City, the Robins defeated Millwall 4-3 last time out.
Anis Mehmeti and Sinclair Armstrong put Liam Manning’s side ahead early on, only for the Lions to fight back and take a 3-2 lead. However, summer signing Fally Mayulu netted once again to level the scores before Scott Twine secured all three points late on.
City will be out for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Sky Blues in the first round of the Carabao Cup earlier this month.
As for Coventry City, they bounced back from an opening day defeat away to Stoke City with a win in their second game.
Newly promoted Oxford United made the journey to the CBS Arena and it was the hosts that came out on top. The U’s made them work for the win though, with Haji Wright’s 96th-minute goal winning it 3-2.
Mark Robins’ side are widely backed for a big season and will be determined to claim a second win here.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
James Ray
“Coventry City might have got the better of Bristol City when these two met in the cup the other week, but these will be full strength sides at full tilt in a bid to get three points on the board in the Championship.
“As tipped towards the end of last season, the Robins look like they’re going to be a handful. New striker signings Mayulu and Armstrong have got on the board early and they could finally be the regular goalscorers Manning has been crying out for.
“Coventry City are going to be right up there this season though.
“They have the talent to take the three points, but I just feel these are the sort of games Bristol City might start taking something from. I’ll say this one ends level.”
Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Coventry City
Harry Mail
“This should be a decent match-up between two solid teams.
“Bristol City did well to beat Millwall last time out and that result will have boosted their confidence. Striker Fally Mayulu looks a real handful, whilst Scott Twine has a lot of quality.
“As for Coventry City, they got their first win in their last game against Oxford United and have a strong side.
“I can’t separate these two, although I think there will be goals at Ashton Gate.”
Prediction: Bristol City 2-2 Coventry City
