DONE DEAL: Leeds United set to sign Georginio Rutter’s new Brighton teammate who is available for just £7m

Georginio Rutter has opted to join Brighton this week in a £40m deal but a new teammates of his could be the perfect signing for Leeds United, with Brighton ready to sell for just £7m.

With Rutter gone for a club-record Brighton fee, Leeds are now focused on bringing in new signings. Daniel Farke has gon e public by saying he wants four additions including a replacement for Rutter.

He also wants a new left-winger after the departure of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham for an initial £25m. But perhaps, Leeds would be better off signing a player that can play anywhere in the final third.

A player that can play on both flanks but also behind the striker, with Farke stubborn in using his 4-2-3-1 system. Well, a South American star at Brighton can do just that and is available for a bargain £7m fee.

Brighton willing to cash in on Jeremy Sarmiento for just £7m

Sarmiento, 22, is naturally a left winger but can play anywhere behind the striker whether that is on the right or as a 10. The 21-time Ecuador star has just been pushed down Brighton’s pecking order by Rutter.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon channel that both Burnley and Sheffield United are in the race to sign Sarmiento, who starred on loan at both West Brom and then Ipswich during 2023-24.

He says a loan is possible but Brighton are also open to a permanent exit for Sarmiento. A fee between £6m and £7m would convince The Seagulls to part company with Sarmiento, Leeds should take a look.

Leeds have got to consider signing Sarmiento before deadline

Spending the first half of last season on loan at West Brom and then helping Ipswich finish above Leeds in second from January onwards, Sarmiento already has plenty of Championship experience under his belt.

Leeds need players that are going to hit the ground running at Elland Road in the next nine days. There is no time to let players develop as Farke looks to get Leeds promoted this season, or faces losing his job.

He needs instant impact and while Sarmiento is a step down from Summerville, he would provide Leeds with proven Championship quality for a bargain fee and versatility behind the striker at Elland Road.
