Everton are making ‘good progress’ in talks to sign a player as they bid to wrap up their first transfer of the summer.
It’s no secret that it’s going to be a difficult summer at Goodison Park due to the uncertainty surrounding the ownership of the club.
The Toffees could also be forced to sell one of their star players in an attempt to avoid further punishment from the Premier League.
With ongoing financial concerns, it’s likely to lead to Everton being creative in the upcoming transfer window.
And according to TEAMtalk journalist Harry Watkinson, they could make the most of a clause in one of their summer target’s contracts.
Everton talks over Jack Harrison advancing
Following a season on loan at Goodison Park last time out, Everton are keen to renew their deal for Jack Harrison. It was previously claimed that talks between Leeds and Everton were ongoing.
Now, it seems the deal is edging ever closer as the Toffees look to make the most out of a clause in Harrison’s deal.
Indeed, Watkinson took to X on Monday claims that this clause will allow Harrison to head out on loan once again after Leeds missed out on promotion.
He wrote: “Understand Everton are making good progress in talks to re-sign Jack Harrison on loan for 2024/25.
“Winger has a clause in his contract that allows him to go out on loan again after Leeds missed out on promotion.”
Harrison’s first season at Everton
Despite managing just seven goal involvements in 36 appearances last season, Harrison was an important part of Sean Dyche’s squad.
The versatile £30 million winger started a total of 25 games in the league, missing out on the starting XI just four times when he was available.
Of course, Everton fans will be hoping to see some improvement in terms of Harrison’s end product should he complete a switch back to Merseyside as expected.
But with funds expected to be limited this summer, re-signing Harrison feels like a no-brainer from Everton’s point of view.
