85% deal as Everton hope to strike Tottenham agreement over Dele Alli deal

Everton remain in talks with Tottenham to re-negotiate the transfer terms for Dele Alli, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The paper reported via its online edition on Friday (July 12) that the 28-year-old is currently training at Finch Farm as he recovers from a groin injury that sidelined him last season.

Alli is currently out of contract, and the Toffees hope to amend the original agreement with Spurs to allow him a chance to feature in pre-season.

The terms of the move that brought Alli to Merseyside from Tottenham in February 2022 would complicate any attempt by the Blues to sign him to a new deal, hence the ongoing talks.

Can Dele Alli get back to his best?

Alli has been working hard to get back to his best. Once a star in the Premier League and for England, the 28-year-old’s career hit a rough patch with injuries and personal issues.

The former England international recently had surgery to fix a groin problem and has been working hard on his recovery. He’s been training at Everton’s Finch Farm and sharing updates with fans on social media.

Alli, who last played for England in 2019, was once a bright talent, breaking into the Spurs team at 19 and becoming an England regular.

But after leaving Tottenham in 2022, his career struggled to take off at Besiktas and Everton. Personal struggles, including dealing with addiction and a troubled past, also took a toll on him [The Overlap].
Now, with Everton’s support, Alli has a chance to prove himself in pre-season. If he can stay focused and fit, there’s a good chance we’ll see him shine on the pitch again – but first it requires the blessing of Spurs.
