BREAKING NEWS: Everton make final move to Manchester United star midfielder as club face hot competition

Everton have made an approach for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, although they face competition from Fenerbahce with talks underway.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Manchester United, although had something of an underwhelming stint at Old Trafford after a lengthy transfer saga last summer.

The Morocco international made 21 Premier League appearances, although just 10 of those came in the starting line-up.

He certainly finished his time with the Red Devils on a high, though, as he played the full 90 minutes in the FA Cup final as Erik ten Hag’s side stunned Manchester City at Wembley.

Fiorentina facing Amrabat problem after Manchester United howler

The midfielder has returned to Fiorentina and despite starting their first two Serie A games of the season, another exit is on the cards.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Everton have made an approach for Amrabat, although a move from Fenerbahce appears more advanced.

The Turkish club have offered a €2m (£1.69m) loan fee, with a €12m (£10.1m) mandatory buy clause, although Fiorentina are not happy with that and negotiations continue over those numbers.

Manchester United were linked with bringing Amrabat back to the club this season, with holding midfield an area they are looking to strengthen.

The Red Devils have finally managed to fill that gap in their squad after agreeing a £52m deal to sign Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

Ugarte’s arrival is still yet to be announced by the club but the deal is done and confirmation is imminent.

Everton are looking to make late additions to their squad before Friday’s transfer deadline after a disastrous start to the Premier League season.

A 3-0 defeat to Brighton on the opening weekend was followed by a 4-0 loss at Tottenham and the Toffees sit bottom of the early-season table.

Romano also reports that Everton have made a move for Lyon’s former Nottingham Forest midfielder Oriol Mangala.
