BREAKING NEWS: Everton on verge of new takeover announcement as details ‘closely guarded

Everton are about to announce that Farhad Moshiri is entering a new period of exclusivity with a buyer for the club, according to The Athletic.

Matt Slater wrote on Friday (7 June) that “details are being closely guarded” but it seems like Moshiri has taken a major step towards finding a new buyer after talks with 777 Partners broke down at the start of the month.

It is understood that a “new group” will enter “exclusive negotiations” with the wantaway majority shareholder, but it is unclear who that is at this stage.

Who will be the new Everton owners?

According to The Athletic, Andy Bell and George Downing – who are Everton fans and are currently owned money by the Toffees – are trying to buy the Merseyside club.

There’s also said to be “advanced interest from a global consortium of wealthy investors”.

Crystal Palace shareholder John Textor has also confirmed he’s interested in buying into the Blues but Premier League rules forbid people from owning more than 10 per cent of shares in two clubs. It’s unlikely he’ll be able to get anything done soon due to the need to sell up his Palace ownership first.

An announcement is reportedly imminent so it seems that it won’t be long before Evertonians find out who is winning the race to be the club’s new owners.

Moshiri deserves some credit for moving on quickly with this but the British-Iranian businessman has already burnt any bridges he might have had left at Goodison with his pathetic attempt at trying to strike a deal with 777.

Ever since the start, the experts in the field have been sending warning signs about the Miami-based group, who are now starting to see their so-called football empire burn to the ground.
