DEAL: Everton to sign Jacob Greaves as perfect Jarrad Branthwaite replacement

Everton want to sign Hull City star Jacob Graves to replace Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, but the Championship club have no interest in selling, according to iNews.

Writing on their website (24 April), the news outlet report that the academy graduate is seen as a “tailor-made replacement” for Branthwaite, who is a target for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham and Brentford are also interested in the central defender, but Hull are minded to reject bids for their key players this summer even if they fail to achieve promotion to the Premier League as they want to keep the group together to go again next season.

Financial problems at Everton causing a transfer headache?

The Toffees are in absolute meltdown when it comes to their finances currently, with nobody knowing the future of the club long term.

That causes huge problems off the pitch when it comes to preparing for the on-pitch stuff, with no idea about how they will be able to replace key players who are expected to leave.

Branthwaite and Amadou Onana look all but certain to leave once the season ends, with the club potentially needing to raise £60m before June 30th to

avoid a further PSR breach and another potential points deduction in the 2024/25 season.

But if they are being forced to look at the Championship to replace their star men they will be forced to stump up fees they don’t have, which makes the transfer window incredibly troublesome.

Other clubs are in competition for these players and Hull don’t want to sell which means any deal would cost a premium, and Everton simply can’t compete if that is the case.
