Everton consider mega bid for Armando Broja transfer in Chelsea update

Everton are considering paying a fee close to £25.2million for Chelsea forward Armando Broja this summer, according to AS.

The Spanish newspaper reported in their print edition (12 June, page 6) that the Toffees, Wolfsburg and AC Milan are all interested in signing the striker for a big fee despite mixed form over the past two years.

Broja, who told AS that he wants to become an “icon of Albania” while representing his country at EURO 2024, only scored two goals last season, neither of which came during his loan spell at Fulham from February onwards.

Armando Broja transfer would be risky move for Everton

Everton’s financial struggles have dominated and will continue to dominate, speculation over how active they’ll be able to be in the upcoming transfer window.

Reports have stated that after their run-ins with the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, a sell-to-buy policy is in place at Goodison Park, with striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin one player linked with an exit [Lewis Steele].

The England forward has just over 12 months left on his contract and if he fails to agree on new terms, the Blues could cash in this summer to avoid losing the 27-year-old for free in 2025 [Paul Brown].

Interestingly, one of the clubs to have expressed an interest in Calvert-Lewin are Chelsea, and if the Toffees are more concerned with signing Broja than losing their long-term number nine, a cut-price deal to swap the two strikers around could be in the works [Liverpool Echo].

However, despite his injury worries, Calvert-Lewin’s scoring record at Premier League level has been far, far better than Broja’s, and even though he’s five years older than the Albanian, it makes much more financial sense for Everton to tie down Calvert-Lewin than splashing the cash on Broja [TEAMtalk].
