Fans reacts as Paul Merson release shocking Everton v Brentford Premier League clash prediction

Paul Merson has made his prediction for the Premier League clash between Everton and Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday 27 April.

The Toffees have all but secured their Premier League status for next season after beating Liverpool 2-0 in midweek, while Brentford claimed a dominant 5-1 win over Luton last weekend in their last fixture.

And while making his predictions for Sportskeeda (26 April), Merson praised Sean Dyche and his staff for turning the situation around after the team were “pummelled” by Chelsea and backed the two sides to battle to a 1-1 draw at Goodison.

“I have all the respect in the world for Everton,” he said. “They got absolutely pummelled 6-0 by Chelsea the other day but they responded with successive 2-0 wins over Nottingham Forest and arch-rivals Liverpool.

“Hats off to Sean Dyche, his players and the coaching staff for showing up when it mattered most – they are well and truly safe now.

“Brentford have turned a corner and are unbeaten in their last five games, so this should be an interesting contest. Everton 1-1 Brentford.”

Everton are not safe from relegation yet

It may be as close to a done deal as can be, but it isn’t a done deal yet and Everton cannot afford to play as if they’re already safe.

Football is a strange game and weirder things have happened than the Toffees still getting relegated from this situation, but they are in a fantastic position now to ensure they are still a Premier League side.

Brentford have little to play for this season after securing their own safety, and the fans on Merseyside will be absolutely buzzing after the events of the last week.

If they are able to bring another raucous atmosphere to push the players over the line once more to get a good result, then safety really will be secure and the final games of the campaign can be a party.

Merson hasn’t always been adamant that the club would avoid the drop and with a win at the weekend, the team can prove him wrong twice at once.
