GOOD BYE: Andre Gomes set to seal next transfer already as Everton exit confirmed

Andre Gomes could be set for a move to the MLS after his Everton exit was confirmed last month, according to Bruno Andrade.

The Portuguese journalist reported via X [6 June] that the 30-year-old has already received enquiries from the United States, with a move to the MLS the most likely outcome.

It is understood that a move back to Portugal has been ruled out for Gomes, who will leave the club upon the expiration of his current contract at Goodison Park.

Where will Andre Gomes play after his Everton contract expires?

While Gomes is just 30 years of age, and still has plenty of football to be played, his injury history would suggest that a move elsewhere in Europe is extremely unlikely.

The midfielder made just three Premier League appearances this season after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, which has been a regular occurrence in recent years.

There is no doubt over Gomes’ ability, having become a favourite figure at Goodison Park when he is fit, though there were not too many occasions when the Toffees could rely on him.

With a midfield trio of Idrissa Gana Gueye, Amadou Onana and Abdoulaye Doucoure, there is little space left for the Portuguese man, with James Garner also waiting in the wings.

Many fans will be upset to see Gomes leave the club, having joined from Barcelona, initially on a loan spell in 2018 before making the deal permanent in July 2019.

Making 114 appearances for the Merseyside club across the years, he has been an extremely loyal servant to the club, one which will wish him well once he finds a new club this summer.

Gomes would offer a lot to the MLS, should that be his destination this summer, and any club would be lucky to acquire his services if he can stay fit for the majority of a campaign.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche can get the best out of James Garner if the Toffees can complete a freebie deal the manager wants.
