The recently crowned four-time Formula One world champion has had a turbulent time off-track in recent weeks following a public spat with Mercedes driver George Russell, which has seen the pair trade insults after a falling out in Qatar.
However some good news for the Dutchman came on Friday morning as he posted on social media that he and Piquet are expecting a “mini Verstappen-Piquet”.
“We couldn’t be happier with our little miracle,” added the pair under a photo of them holding Piquet’s stomach.
Piquet, the daughter of three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet, already has a child with former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat.
Penelope was born in 2019, the same year the pair split.
Several drivers have commented under the post, offering their congratulations, including Pierre Gasly who wrote: “Congratulations to you 2 [sic].”
Presenter Natalie Pinkham wrote: “Sign her/him up immediately; what a gene pool. Huge congratulations and love.”
