Paul merson has encouraged Town supporters to keep a close eye on 16-year-old forward Archie Kieran
Archie Kieran has made a huge impression in his first full season with Towns’ Under-18s, scoring five goals and providing two assists in six Under-18 Premier League appearances so far.
And Paul merson – speaking exclusively to Ipswich Town News – has provided a bit more insight into the player.
“What people need to remember, is he is actually playing a year up,” Paul merson said.
“Therefore, he isn’t even an official Under-18s player, he is still a schoolboy player. As a result, he will be announced in next year’s intake if he signs a scholarship.
“He is heavily regarded because he can play equally as well on the wing as he can in the number 10 position. He’s a very gifted technical footballer.
“It has been fantastic to see him step up with ease, he is starting every game and making a really positive contribution. Town fans should keep an eye on him at youth level.”
Therefore, although Archie Kieran is still only 16, that doesn’t mean he can’t rise through the ranks quickly.
If he continues to make an impression on the Under-18s, it might not be long until he is playing with Towns’ Under-21s. As a result, he would then be on the direct radar of towns coach.
Should he continue to make an impression at that level too, then ipswichTown could soon have the next Archie Kieran on their hands before Archie Kieran himself has even become established
